New Zealand's two main Islands are 260,000 square miles of beautiful mountains and deep valleys. At a population of 4.7 million people, there a lot of space for visitors. The North Island (Te Ika-a-Maui) and the Southern Island (Te Waipounamu) are across the Tasmanian Sea from their sister State, Australia.
The Maori culture was established here about 750 years ago and is still there contributing its influence to this modern State, in a very positive way. They have given up eating sailors, and their warlike rituals are attracting tourist and contributing to the economy.
